In the south of Vietnam and the Mekong Delta is the city of Ca Mau. Being a sedimentary landscape, the city developed along the high ground surrounding a confluence of rivers. As a counter point to government plans to double the size of the city, the studio explored regional and architectural proposals which responsibly create urban structures in response to the unique local ecology and economy. The New Urban Waterfront project creates a public realm surrounded by shop-houses, wet market inlets, and higher density towers. Threaded throughout the complex are flood-safe walkways and parking structures.
